FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

DUTCHESS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT LOOKING UP
DCEDC holds SKY’S the LIMIT Breakfast on Thursday June 10

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (MAY 26, 2010)
Economic development is moving forward in Dutchess County, despite the fact that it is in a holding pattern in many areas of the state and nation, according to Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) President and CEO John MacEnroe.

Recent gains and future opportunities will be spotlighted at the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Breakfast on June 10 at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. The Sky’s the Limit Breakfast runs from 7:30—9:00 a.m.

“We are consistently receiving calls from companies considering relocating to Dutchess County,” said MacEnroe.

Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus echoed this point at a recent Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce Breakfast. Steinhaus said the county has $2 billion in long-term economic development projects in the pipeline. “We are attractive to manufacturing, technology and renewable energy companies due to our proximity to New York City, easy access to I-87 and I-84, and highly-skilled workforce,” said MacEnroe.

“My colleagues are also very busy working with companies already in Dutchess to keep them here and to grow and prosper. Economic development is often viewed as a barometer of long-term financial investment and growth. When the number of projects increase and come to completion, we see the results in more jobs, lower taxes and better quality of life,” said MacEnroe.

At the event, video profiles produced by Rosenbaum Media Group will feature four successful aviation-related businesses and non-profit organizations. Tickets for the breakfast are $40 and can be purchased by calling 845-463-5410 or email dcedc@dcedc.com.
