Regional Business Editors Give Attendees the Scoop on Gaining Media Coverage
Roger Rosenbaum to lead panel discussion

LAKE KATRINE, N.Y. (NOVEMBER 15, 2007) Businesses and entrepreneurs who want to get their stories told by regional print, radio and Internet news outlets should attend a panel discussion at the Hudson Valley Center for Innovation (HVCFI) on Wednesday November 28 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.

"There are a lot of great stories unfolding in our innovation economy," said Les Neumann, managing director of the Hudson Valley Center for Innovation.

The Entrepreneurs' Breakfast Series panel discussion will take place at 703 Grant Avenue in Lake Katrine.

Confirmed panel members include: Susan Barnett, Hudson Valley Bureau Chief for WAMC Northeast Public Radio; Irwin Goldberg, Digital Editor (former business editor) "Poughkeepsie Journal"; Debbie Kwiatoski, Managing Editor Hudson Valley Business Journal; Geddy Sveikauskas Publisher Ulster Publishing and Lynn Woods, Reporter for Hudson Valley Business/Westchester County Business Journal.

Audience members will have the opportunity to present story ideas to the panel and receive live feedback. “A positive story can go a long way to raise a company’s visibility,” said Neumann.

Business owners can sometimes get confused between what is newsworthy, and the role of news outlets and advertising campaigns. Editors will discuss some of the pressures and issues they face getting tough questions answered under tight deadlines. “It will be interesting to hear how technology and around-the-clock news cycles have changed how news is gathered and distributed here in the Hudson Valley,” said Neumann.

The panel and light refreshments are free. Please RSVP to specialevents@hvcfi.com.

Senator Schumer Endorses Sennett for Ulster DA

SENATOR SCHUMER ENDORSES SENNETT FOR ULSTER COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY
-Schumer Calls Sennett a Proactive and Tenacious Prosecutor-

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (October 2, 2007) United States Senator Chuck Schumer, New York's senior senator, today endorsed Jonathan R. Sennett for Ulster County District Attorney.

“Jonathan Sennett is tenacious and proactive prosecutor who will be a first-rate District Attorney for the citizens of Ulster County and its law enforcement professionals,” said Senator Schumer. “He understands that to fight crime effectively, you must attack its root causes. As an assistant district attorney in the Bronx for five years, Sennett learned that tough prosecution must go hand-in-hand with prevention efforts. I have complete faith that he will develop effective strategies for the law enforcement issues facing a changing Ulster County,” said Schumer.

During his 20 years in Congress, Senator Schumer was the leading sponsor of the Crime Bill that added tens of thousands of cops to communities across America. Schumer sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee and is a member of the Administrative Oversight and Courts Committee.

“Sennett is committed to maintaining and improving the quality of life that makes Ulster County a great place to live, work and raise a family,” continued Schumer. “Make no mistake about it, serious crime requires serious prosecution. And Jonathan Sennett knows we must be both tough and smart when it comes to crime -- balancing prevention with first-rate law enforcement and prosecution.”.

“Mr. Sennett has proven that he has the skills and experience both as a prosecutor and a defense attorney to weigh each case based on its merit and seek appropriate action,” concluded Schumer.
